We are not afraid of the dark

Mousonturm Studio 1

Performance/Theater

An exercise in survival: in 2009, actress Tracy Wright was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. She decided to continue working as long as possible and set out on an adventure with director Tine Van Aerschot, which they called We are not afraid of the dark. Tine and Tracy began to talk – as long and as often as the circumstances allowed. They spoke about fears, about how fears can change and how they can be pitted against each other and chased away.
Tine van Aerschot then wrote a performance text based on these conversations and combined them with literary examples of survival under inhospitable conditions. The monolog is spoken by one actress and two ›ghosts‹, embodied by the voices of Claire Marshall (Forced Entertainment) and Don McKellar (director, actor, author and Tracy Wright’s husband).
