This year’s Tanzfestival Rhein-Main broadens our horizon. Under the motto re:shape, it presents international guest performances as well as outstanding dance pieces from the Rhine-Main region – making it possible to experience the artistic and political power of forms of movement, that until now have been excluded from the European stage canon.
Aerobics, raqs, ice skating, Italian tarantism, and gestures of protest – numerous artists place popular forms of expression at the center of their work. They investigate dance on a horizontal level, redefining our relationship to tradition. They develop new perspectives of gender identities and destabilize existing codes and conventions. We find ourselves in a time of crisis. This makes it all the more important to stay in motion. We therefore kindly invite you to search for alternative spaces of action together with artists and, starting from the tangible to continuously reshape our coexistence.
